DOMESTIC VIOLENCE/SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH FACT SHEET 66 children and 52 women received safe housing at New Directions Center, Inc. from January 2000 through July 2000. Domestic Violence is statistically consistent across racial and ethnic boundaries (Bureau of Justice Statistics Special Report: Violence Against Women; estimates from the Redesigned Survey, August 1995, pg. 3). 632 people in Staunton, Waynesboro and/or Augusta County called New Directions Center. Inc. for help from January 2000 through July 2000. Only a coordinated community effort will help put a stop to these heinous crimes. Community members performed 1,181 volunteer hours from January 2000 through July 2000. Domestic Violence and Sexual assault are your business.
